I lead Grant Thornton's Local Government Advisory practice in the Midlands and have a national role developing and supporting innovation in this sector, which is my key area of interest.
I have been advising public sector bodies for over ten years. Before I joined Grant Thornton I trained as an accountant, gaining my qualification at Arts Council England where I held a variety of finance roles before making the transition to advisory.
Having worked with a wide range of public sector organisations including a significant number of local authorities, I am able to bring this knowledge and experience to the projects I undertake. My clients span the whole country, from the largest Mets and Unitaries to the smallest Districts. My goal is to support the sector to continue to innovate and work with clients to understand the art of the possible. My client portfolio includes Birmingham City Council, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Vale of Glamorgan Council and Southend on Sea Borough Council. I also work with commercial companies that are wholly owned by local authorities.
In addition to my client work, I am keen to support the sector through thought leadership. I have a central role in our long running campaign on alternative service delivery models in local government which comprises research into existing models, commentary on their success and guidance for others setting out on this journey. To complement these publications I regularly write articles and give presentations on this subject to provide inspiration and debate.
