This latest Marmot report is quite breathtaking. I have long felt that as a society we have marginalised adults with Learning Disabilities, but some of the data in this report is incredible. It is not a policy issue but a moral issue for the public sector but also businesses and communities. Exploring the themes that Marmot raises will be a key part of our work on #acaringsociety
A Fair, Supportive Society: a social determinants of health approach to improving the lives and health of people with learning disabilities. This report highlights that some of the most vulnerable people in society – those with learning disabilities – will die 15-20 years sooner on average than the general population – that’s 1,200 people every year. It reports on key facts, stats, and interventions. Read the report and the press release via this link.
